Our client is a leading MEP Design consultancy with a strong reputation for providing high-quality design services across the built environment. We are currently seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their dynamic team in Glasgow. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer with a passion for innovative building services solutions and a desire to work on complex, high-profile projects.

Role Overview:
As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the electrical design aspects of various building services projects, providing technical expertise and ensuring that all systems are designed to meet client requirements, industry standards, and relevant legislation. You will play a key role in managing project teams, mentoring junior engineers, and working closely with other disciplines to deliver successful, integrated design solutions for commercial, residential, and industrial developments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the electrical design process for building services projects from concept through to completion, ensuring all designs meet client specifications and project timelines.
  • Prepare electrical calculations, designs, and detailed drawings using relevant design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Amtech, Dialux).
  • Collaborate with architects, mechanical engineers, and other consultants to develop fully integrated building systems.
  • Conduct site surveys and feasibility studies to assess existing systems and identify opportunities for improvement or modification.
  • Manage project budgets and timelines, providing regular updates to clients and senior management.
  • Lead and mentor junior engineers, providing technical support and guidance as required.
  • Prepare technical reports, specifications, and documentation for submission to clients, contractors, and statutory authorities.
  • Attend client meetings and liaise with key stakeholders to ensure that the electrical design meets client expectations and requirements.
  • Stay up to date with the latest developments in building services engineering and electrical design technologies.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 5-7 years' experience in electrical design within the building services sector.
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical design principles, including power distribution, lighting, emergency systems, fire alarm systems, and low voltage systems.
  • Proficiency in electrical design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Amtech, and Dialux.
  • Experience in designing electrical systems for a wide range of projects, including commercial, residential, and industrial sectors.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to mentor and develop junior engineers.
